Instructions for a Princess Fairy Skirt – Great for Halloween, Parties or Dress Up
If you have a little girl who loves fairies, you will love these easy instructions to make a fairy skirt. A fairy skirt is a great costume for Halloween, fairy parties and dress up. There are only a few supplies needed for this easy craft project. The instructions are simple and the project can be completed in about two hours.
To make the fairy skirt, you will need elastic (measured to the waist of the skirt recipient), a needle and thread, 6 inch wide tulle and scissors.
Begin by sewing the ends of the elastic together to make a loop. This is the waistband for the skirt.
Next cut 50 pieces of tulle 20 inches long.
Each piece of tulle will need to be cut individually to make a leaf shape. Fold the tulle in half so it is 3 inches wide instead of 6 inches wide. With the fold toward you, place the scissors 2 inches from the top and cut at an angle away from you. Turn the tulle to the bottom and repeat on the other end. You will now have a jagged leaf shape. Do this with each piece of tulle.
When the tulle is ready, begin by tying one piece of tulle in a double knot onto the elastic. Repeat with the next piece of tulle. After tying each piece of tulle, push it as close to the other pieces of tulle as possible. The closer the tulle pieces are to each other, the fluffier the skirt will be.
When all the tulle has been tied to the elastic, add a flower to the waistband as a fairy garnish. As an option, you can tie a couple of pieces of sparkle ribbon to the waistband.
This completes the project. You are now ready for fairy parties and dress up games.
