Your Adult Halloween Party - 4 Tips to Set It Up Right
The sky is darkening. The air is chilled. Ghosts and goblins, vampires and witches are around every corner. It is officially Halloween night and you have decided to have a hauntingly exciting Halloween party. How delightfully ghoulish!
But where do you start in planning your Halloween holiday celebration?
Here are 4 steps to help you in planning an excellent Halloween Party that will have all those ghosts, wicked witches and grim goblins screaming with delight.
1: Halloween Party Kickoff: Be clear about who the party is for - for you or your children? Adults' and children's parties can be quite different from each other. Adults handle the spooky aspects better, and the theme could be deliciously horrific, or even sexy. So everything will be for adults - the food and beverages, games and decorations. Younger children generally don't like to be frightened.
So plan your party according to the ages of your guests. Once you have that figured out, now it is time to choose the date, time and time of your Halloween party. Remember to make a guest list.
2: Halloween invitations: Set the tone of the party with your invitations. You can buy them or make them yourself with construction paper. You could also design invitations on your computer, or download a template, and print the invitations yourself. Let your guest know the date, time and place of your Halloween party, and ask them to reply.
Make invitations in Halloween-theme shapes, such as witches, skeletons, bats, ghosts and mummies wrapped in real bandages. You can make some fun cards with paper, too, like popups.
Or send your guests an envelope containing loose "bones" that need to be arranged as a skeleton in order to see what the party details are?
You could make a real impact by sending your guests audio invitations, complete with eerie sound effects.
3: Halloween party food and recipes: Halloween food is essential to a ghoulish party atmosphere. Plan a menu and make a guest list. Try to do as much ahead of time as possible, and try to select Halloween recipes that can be made ahead of time and stored or frozen.
And again, think of the ages of your guests - if they are all adults body part foods are ghoulishly fun - gooey jelly eyeballs or severed fingers made of sausage and ketchup, for example. You'll find plenty of recipe ideas online with a quick Google search.
This might be the time to use up some of those Halloween pumpkin insides.
4: Haunted Halloween Pumpkins: Go to the market early for the best selection. It's especially fun to pick your own pumpkins at this time of the year.
By selecting a variety of shapes and sizes of pumpkins, you will be able to make a variety of interesting jack-o-lanterns ghosts.
And miniature pumpkins make great decorations. You can also give them to your guests as party favors.
The day before the party, carve your pumpkins and double check you have enough candles, or use small flashlights to show off their ghostly grins.
Then it's time to relax and enjoy your spooky and fun Halloween party.
